i have to be honest.... i see them potentially doing more harm than good.
if you hit them on their edge, straight on i can see them tearing their screw mounts loose. plus i know it is only fractions of an inch.... but it is actually lowering the spoiler to the ground a bit. and call me crazy, but it's making the lower lip very ridgid... i wonder if i don't want some flexiblity in the plastic if i did scrape.... how would the impact be absorbed? would the displacement possibly create a greater risk for paint to craze? perhaps i'm over thinking it.... but these are my concerns.... but, i'm digging that scoop! |

LOl i'm pretty sure he reads this thread...I have yet to see Eloy this week to put in the final prototype for the scoops and also he ordered the BMC filter that arrived yesterday, hopefully I can go up to RPI to get everythign done by Eloy and we will do some more dyno and after that if Eloy is ready I get the group buy going for the scoops...

Sorry for the delay guys.
Here is a picture of the skid plates. They should be ready to ship in a week or so. As for the scoops, I was able to extend the scoop a little bit to create more initial surface area. This will allow the incoming air to travel at a greater velocity providing better pressurization. Laidback is late for EVERY appointment he sets with us. So, when, if he shoes up next week, we should have the final dyno numbers, etc. |

I am very interested in the scoop/BMC filter combo. People on the e90 forums swear that the BMC filters do wonders on their 335's - and my experience with intake mods on turbo'd cars has always been negligible...

Not certain if anyone has looked at this but would this possibly work on our M's?
http://www.bmcairfilters.com/VisDetail.asp?ID=209 This paired with the scoop might be nice... |

LOL...I have been busy with the Mfest and my other car and will be back there asap... btw Eloy took out the scoop on the Z4 last tuesday and put back the stock one and it sucks driving the Mcoupe ( i miss the responsiveness and quickness it had with the scoop).....
Quote:
Eloy has the BMC filter for our air box and will most likely offer the combo (scoop and bmc filter)...that should be good to gain more numbers... |

Here you guys go. We were able to get solid numbers (before/after) today.
The baseline was done on a stock car with the charcoal filters removed. Adding the scoops gave us 5.5whp while adding the filters netted us another 2.7whp to give us an 8.2whp gain. This is with no ECU relearn and reflash. The gains should be more significant as the ecu learns. |

Yes, yes... final pricing with filter and scoop (for us Canucks too).
Also, hate to repeat - but with the filter and scoop, is there any audible difference? I'll be up front and put my ricer hat on to say that the sound is a tad bit more important that the whp to me!

Interesting... seems to move the power peak back a few hundred rpm. The 8.2whp is at peak, of course? Some good area under the curve from 6K up and in the mid-range.

Just got back from doing some actual pulls with "laidback's" M and my M coupe. From 30 mph, he was up about half a car length on me... from 60 mph on the freeway, he took off like a screaming bullet... min 2 car lengths on me... WE NEED TO GET THE SCOOPS!!!
