this car has CHARACTER, '07 Z4 M Coupe
I'm in my mid 40's and have had a lot of cars. I've owned at least five Mustangs and more recently an S2000, Saleen Mustang and most recently a 99 Z3 Coupe.
But let me tell you, this car has the magic, it's got soul and it has a lot to do with this engine and even it's solid lifters. As in the fact that you have to inspect valve clearance like on my sport bike. Now if that's not character I don't know what is. And of course the sound of the engine. Even the damn Sport button - it's like having two cars in one. There are many other reasons, looks, sound (at least with my Stromung mufflers) but it's also technically awesome: speed, handling, comfort, balance, features, class, etc. I know I'm speaking to the choir but man alive, I have found my automotive soulmate. Yeah, it's the best car I've ever owned and probably ever will. They don't make cars raw and analog like this anymore outside of a spec race car.
Today's M cars, even the new M2, are just too sterile for their own good, even if they are a lot faster than the Z4M. They lack the "soul" you're talking about... |

Agreed.
And what's this M2 you speak of? Sounds familiar. I let my Car and Driver subscription lapse a couple years ago since I have like 5 moto subscriptions. Off to Google. |

"There’s something intrinsically cool about a small, hatchback sports car. It’s reminiscent of an era when a serious sports car dude might have a car like this as his only ride. The Z4 M Coupe picks up that vaguely retro vibe with its cab-rearward proportions, although the design does not attempt to re-create anything."
I always thought this encapsulated the feel of the machine. http://www.automobilemag.com/news/20...-z4-m-coupe-2/
