Word is he's not well and in a nursing home.
His FAQ thread is the first thing I read when I got my car and was trying to figure out why the inner headlights never came on. As I read on I learned about the CDV, and one thing after another. He was the inspiration behind my ever deciding to take a wrench to my car.

Lots of info on Ron's health over on BFC http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/sh...ght=Ron+stygar
His website http://www.unofficialbmw.com/ronstygar.html is a wealth of information for Zed owners. I second Stickmon's comment above.

Hate to hear that. He's welcome to ride in any of my cars at any time. He's a huge forum contributor.

This is sad news. I think I read and printed nearly every post he made.

Damn. Such a loss for the community. As with others, Ron helped me a lot with his extensive knowledge. Nothing I hate or despise more than dementia. Lost my mom to it one year ago. Such a brutal and unfair disease.

As all of you have stated, Ron was definitely the go to guy for any questions on our cars.
I spent hours & hours going through Ron's posts when I had my first M roady. I went through this same thing with my Dad; it's unbelievable hard to lose a person in mind and have them still there physically.

Perhaps we can get a more permanent remembrance on facebook or some other site, maybe some infamous links. Who knows how long his unofficial site will stay up.

I had an opportunity to meet Ron at 2008 HC. Very nice person in every way. Ron provided the inspiration for me to work on my own car. The very famous word Ron said to me was "Don't worry about breaking things when you work on your car. You can always buy new parts."
I will miss him and his knowledge of BMW. |

So sad to hear of Rons condition. I remember all of the excitement we felt, as the lucky ones, that were able to get the first allocations of the Z4 coupes. Reading and watching, Ron taking apart the first one, modifying her to his liking. It made the wait, for the delivery of mine, a little easier. I still have mine, nearing 70k, still looks like new.
Appreciate what you have! You never know.... Don |

I'm also very sorry to hear this. I've certainly enjoyed Ron's posts through the years.

REALLY sad reading this.... since i got my z4mr overtime i search HIS posts and detailed pics would come up with his immaculate white car, you can literally feel how much he loved that car, to have had to sold it ( if he's aware) must have literally killed his soul... LIFE is incredibly cruel..... i don't know if usa nursing homes are like those here in the UK but i can say one thing its a sad place to end up.
Why don't we all club together and send this guy something that may make him smile?? it will cost us like 5 bucks each?? he genuinely deserves it... Very sad day to read this post.
