Shell 91 is my first choice. In a pinch, I'll run over to the Petro near my house for the 94.

Sunoco/Petro Canada 94 is shunned by the high end tuners. Ethanol is the root of all evil in today's engines. Ian has a picture of the plugs we pulled from our motors with exactly the same mileage - One car ran almost exclusively without Ethanol "enriched" fuel (Shell V-Power Ontario), the other without...

I had thought Petro 94 was ethanol free as well. Did some research and see they changed it after the 2010 rule change. Its likely much less than 10% as the rule is a 5% AVERAGE across all fuels that a company puts out. That's why Shell can get away with it...they have some at 10% and this one at 0% still has them average out at over 5%.
So, that all being said, and it sounds like I already know what answer I will get here, do you all firmly agree that a lower octane but ethanol free fuel is better? I'm not so convinced. Even the TIS says "no more than 10%" and Petro admits all their fuels are "up to" 10%. |

Mike, if you saw the plugs that came out of my car, compared to Dave's, I'm sure you would be convinced.
It sure surprised me.

FYI, Advanced Auto is running the buy one-get one free deal on Techron again this month. This is a great deal as it turns out to be only $6.50/bottle for the large bottles.

BG44K, I've also read about it. People have been raving about this product and I think ford dealership carries that. Maybe I will try this one to see if it does anything.

The product is sold to dealerships, service shops, and endorsed by OEM. I could write you several paragraphs on my experience with it but, people tend take what they read on forums with grain of salt.
As any service shop you use or have used about.

I'm not doubting you at all as I've used it for a few years now, usually prior to a smog test. Just curious to get some data to validate my usage. It is expensive (almost 2x the cost of Techron) and a bit difficult to find as only a handful of dealerships carry them. May be I'll try not using it for my next smog test to see if any of the numbers had changed (gotten worse)
