FS: Track Junkie Owned 2006 Z4 M Coupe (Blk Sapphire, Ext Leather, Nav)
I absolutely adore this car but I've been considering purchasing a dedicated (and not street legal) track car for a while and, if I can find my car a proper home, maybe I'll take that plunge. The car has never been a daily driver or driven in the winter and is garaged at all times. Most mileage was acquired on the highways to/from various tracks in the region. The car is in flawless mechanical condition and is in excellent cosmetic condition with no dings or scratches. Minor road rash and rock chips are present (and to be expected) but I've used Dr. ColorChip and the results are impressive. The car has just under 60,000 miles, has a clean CARFAX report, and is fully loaded with every available option except SIRIUS. I've taken meticulous care of the car since I bought it used about 4 years ago and I have saved every single receipt. I refuse to total these up but, suffice to say, no expence was spared during my ownership of this tremendously fun car. Enough of my yacking, here are the details: [UPDATES] 03/20: Pictures of interior and cage here: Post #29 04/24: New pictures from recent detail added. Updated brake rotor information. 06/27: Price dropped to $31,000. 08/14: Best of Opposite Lock and another video below... http://oppositelock.jalopnik.com/tra...der-1120480070 From The Factory The safety equipment (seats, harnesses, etc) was installed by HMS Motorsport who are without equal and the absolute best when it comes to this stuff. No shortcuts. No "I think we got it right" mentality. The cage was built by Chris Howard, a well-known cage builder active in the Miata communities frequently contracted by shops in the New England area to build cages for their customers. The full interior is retained and trunk space is not reduced. Also, it was built to serve as a foundation to a more extensive competition cage, should that desire arise. I am well aware that the modifications I have performed are probably not going to appeal to the "street tuners" as much as the "track junkies" out there. Everything I've done to the car has been with a specific goal in mind without any time or money wasted on superfluous modifications that do not impact the performance of the car. The result of this single-mindedness is a truly exciting car that can lap at a very high level in the hands of an appropriately skilled driver. At the same time, the parts I've selected (Ground Control Camber Plates, KW V3 Suspension, 80A durometer bushings, etc) still allow the car to be driven on the street in comfort. I'm open to offers and would even entertain trades for built and sorted race cars. [NEW PICTURES] And here's a video of my car being detailed after a very wet pair of track days (jump to 4:12 for the finished product): And some quick rev's:

If there's ANY WAY to remove the half cage, I will buy that and the harnesses off you. I'm assuming cost of removal and reinstallation is cheaper than building a custom one from scratch. I live in NJ too =)

But this reminds me of something I should have mentioned. The harnesses are very unique. They're based off of the Ariel Atom belts with custom lengthening performed by HMS (the only entity authorized to do so by Schroth). Aside from using the far more comfortable 2in belts, they incorporate a DOT-approved red-button release and are able to run as 4-points because they have Schroth's ASM technology, as well. Definitely one-off!

But I would suggest you go only to experienced cage builders not shops that fashion themselves a race shop by virtue of the parts they sell and occasionally put into race cars. Thanks man! Comments like this will make me not want to see her go.

I'm a big fan of this car as I'm looking for a NA, dedicated track toy. I was just hoping to spend about 10-15K less. Wish I had a bigger budget.

Wow! Pretty much built out the way I see mine ending up eventually. Great chance here for someone to skip a lot of steps and get a great dual-use (and safe) machine. GLWS

I know I have some videos of me going through Turn 12 at The Glen and they might give a good idea of how it sounds... I'll post those up if/when I find 'em.
In the meantime, for anyone who is curious, the SuperSprint 1/2 and Remus Sport combination is really impressive. Absolutely no droning whatsoever and at full throttle the car sounds appropriately aggressive.

How did the LTW Flywheel and Clutch combo work out for you?
I've only driven an E36M with similar equipped and I've been blown away by the results |

It's great on the track... the RPMs climb much faster and rev-matching is a lot easier. You can tell a significant weight has been lifted from the driveline. And it's well-behaved on the street -- just as smooth to engage/slip as stock -- but it is rattly when stopped and the clutch is out, like all lightened flywheels.

jesus, this is perfect and exactly what i would want (save a few MINOR changes like rpi exhaust and alternating sets of 19" stepped lip wheels)... this car is amazing GLWS.

I had 19in wheels for a short period of time when I first got the car and they looked great. But I promptly removed them because the ride quality suffered so significantly. That and rubber for 19in wheels is much more expensive than rubber for 18in wheels... for a tracked car, you need to save money on consumables wherever you can! The RPI Exhaust, if combined with straight-through Section 1/2's (like the SuperSprint ones I have) is insanely loud. Unbearably loud, really. With stock (or resonated) Section 1/2 pipes, it sounds great.

I have a solution... buy my car! The cage is great but I promise you'll really like the engine too.

Absolutely. I'm going to be doing post-storage maintenance either this weekend or next and I'll be sure to snap a few pictures!
