he "pulled the trigger" on a monster NA build, then said he's getting the ESS VT2-500 kit through me, now this turbo kit. so, I'd take his words with a grain of salt

It's not too bad, turbo on my car is a little big (Precision 74mm) so the car has pretty good momentum when boost hits hard. I did have 285/35's on the back not too long ago but dropped down to 275/30 now to get the look I wanted with these wheels. I also drive around on 275/40/17 NT01's quite a bit when I really need it to hook

Wow, its really coming together fast Shawn! Just a note to those reading .. this is NOT my car, its my roomates/buddy's .. my car is a Turbo E46 M3 which runs the same ECU and is also tuned for Flex Fuel/E85. But I'm really excited to see how it performs compared to mine, mine is a built engine with a low compression, so I've lost alot of my low end, and its so fast its really only good for the freeway, on the streets, stop light to stop light I just blow the tires off, and it lags a little. Still a blast to drive, but this with the high compression, running on E85 is going to drive just like factory down low and then its going to kick you in the ass when the turbo spools up, which with this manifold, and running E85 will be pretty quickly. Plus it weighs alot less than my E46 M3. So needless to say I'm really anxious to see how it performs. Shawn, my guess at 400rwhp was extremely conservative, for gas. Here in Cali 91 pump is crap.. I wouldn't tune for more than 89 for any car that will be forced to use Cali 91 pump. On E85 though thats another story. |

Seriously though while this is a turbo car , all the stuff I mentioned above, including running on E85 is going to really negate alot of the negatives of going turbo as opposed S/C. Can't wait for the dyno graphs! |

I could trade my throttle response for more highway punch, but I didn't know lowering compression would dramatically hurt low-end torque and I'm glad to learn it. I don't want to turn this into a turbo/supercharger thread, so lets end it with this:
I'm very glad someone's doing it on the z4m platform and can't wait to see the results!

It only limits how high your boost can go effectively/safely. In mine, it was at 18lbs for street and pump gas. With my efficient intercooler system I never suffered pre-detonation or heat issues. |

I think you meant lower compression turbo engine. I'm actually worried about a lower compression supercharged engine which I was planning to build. There goes the torque off-boost...
My long term plan is always tweaked, so I can concentrate on my final goals with this car and stick to the path to get there

You are doing some killer work out there! The manifold you built for the Z4M is now my desktop background; it's a serious work of art
I used to own a Z3M and love what you guys did with that platform! any interior pics? Looking forward to the final numbers. Quote:
