Z4 2.5si to Z4M
What do you have to say about a full modification of a z4 2.5si to a Z4 M
Brakes, suspensions, engine, bodykit, and the differential... the cost is coming up to the real price of a z4M but do you find it a good idea if you didnt have enough money to buy a Z4 M and you do the modification in pieces. FIrst you put on the brakes ,after the suspensions and etc. i dont know if it will be like a factory z4 M... soz for my english...:P:P:P |

The best way to do it would be sell the 2.5si and buy an M. There's way too much work and money involved in trying to build it yourself. Let the factory do that for you.

There's a lot more to it than the mechanical bits & pieces.
You'd be far better to SC what you have now.

That would be one insane modification. Just off the top of my head, some components that you'll surely need are:
New Engine/Transmission + all bolt on parts New Computers/Modules (probably REALLY expensive) Hydraulic Steering components Complete rear suspension overhaul (control arms, hubs, etc. -- mostly shared with the M3 CSL) Front Suspension New rear differential and probably a new driveshaft New Brakes relocate battery to inside trunk to make room for dual exhaust Front bumper Rear Bumper Hood Wheels Taillights (probably need some rewiring) Not to mention full interior. + a bunch of little bits and pieces that I did not think of. The modified Z4 from Hartge tuning had a V8 swapped in it with some minor cosmetic and suspension work, and costs well over $100,000, just to give you an idea. I say anything is possible, but it's about resources and cost that will bite you in the end.

Yes you will do this insane modification only if you love your car and you dont want to change it but you want something faster..... And if you put all these in 2 years would be more easy and also you can fing second hand breaks or bodykit...

Why go to all that trouble, when BMW has already done the work for you.

Like others have said, if you can't afford an M now, save up and get an M later.
Not worth it going through the trouble to transform a 2.5si into an M. Forget about all the intermal modifications (engine, differential, brake kits etc). Just to make your 2.5 LOOK LIKE a Z4M - hood (bonnet), front bumper, rear bumper, quad exhaust, wheels, plus painting and installation, can already be VERY costly. Money that can be spent as downpayment for a Z4M later on. |

The Hartge Z50 is approximately $200000 including the price of a brand new Z4 which they convert to the Z50. But the only thing stock left on that car is the chassis. Everything else is ripped out and replaced. There's nothing stock about that car and its priced well into the supercar territory, and not surprising considering its the same engine as the Z8 but with about 200kg less mass to push around. I'll agree that for the money, its not worth converting a car to an M. You're better off investing that money in parts that would make the car exceed the capabilities of an M, such as coilovers, or a supercharger (for a 2.5 you'd still be less power than an M), but for the money you could sure as hell make it handle better. |
