Need Some Advice on Gadget Placement
My Garmin unit is usually mounted on the left side of the instrument cluster attached to the window with a suction mount. I has a tendency to fall off sometimes.
Now I am experimenting with some new placements. Be advised that the vent is NOT seated.... and NO cables can/will be seen in each location. The vent mount is a Kuda mount. I have had it for close to a year but have never used it. I may try each for a week or so to see how I like it. What are your preferences. Here is where my iPod is normally mounted. New configuration 1: I prefer the GPS to be close to eye level. New configuration 2: |

If you can put it on the wind shield I think would be the best place. In any case, put it somewhere where you can easily see it without taking your eyes too far away from the road.

If you can live without your CD player, the Mountek MT5000-C is an excellent mount I've been using with my Sony MP3 player and Android smartphone. Backordered until the end of the month though.

hmm.. this is interesting. I am looking for a way to mount my garmin. I can mount it on the windshield but would rather not if I do not need to.

The mount is used primarily with my HTC Evo 4G smartphone -- which is a big ass with a 4.3" screen. Since the Evo was used to take this picture, I slipped my wife's Blackberry in the mount as a demo. The mount allows for a vertical or horizontal orientation and has some swivel range in all directions. The adjustment knob partially blocks preset buttons 2-4, but they are still accessible from underneath.

Question on the Kuda mount that sits in the vent. does that block all of the air from coming out of that vent? Just wondering as it gets to "eleventybilliondegrees" some days in the summer round here and although I like the placement I'm not sure I like anything blocking any vent.

No, the mount does not cover the vent completely. The majority of the air is routed around it. I will post a picture of just the mount tonight.....
I originally bought the mount so I could mount a touch screen display, but other things have taken precedence... |

Thanks - I am looking for mounting my Garmin Nuvi there. Would be high enough and I really just don't like attaching anything to the window via suction cups.

I like configuration 2 better. As for your ipod, get an Intravee 2 and tuck it away in your center console =)
