Is it really true youll get payed more from what college you graduate from?
Just curious to know whats going to happen out of college... I go to Pepperdine for my BSM in Bachelors and Masters and I work as a Server/Networking Analyst but I don't know if I see myself here after I'm done... Whats starting pay for "Business IT" jobs.... by the time I'm done all have 6 years job experience in the IT Field... I know my bosses makes bank but there managers.

My boss is the most incompetent idiot that graduated from Harvard. Thats why hes my boss and thats why im working for him. And thats the same reason why the company keeps giving him extra chances despite numerous F*ck upz.

Well Pepperdine is a very Prestigious Private school In Malibu, CA so it is well known at least in California... and the program I'm in I will be getting my MBA with it but IM just so worried because it cost 10 grand a semester and its TRI-Semester and I'm trying to pay it off myself so Im just nervous I guess just because one of my coworkers is trying to land another job but nobody is hiring -_- |

It does matter where you go. As mentioned before, if you get an MBA from schools like Wharton and Harvard you'll be making about $130k+ a year (based on average salaries reported that I found a while back). Of course those schools cost a fortune for each semester/quarter.
If you already have the experience you don't have to go to the best school because your experience does count. I mean it's not like you can just go to Harvard and expect to make $130k+ right after. |

I think it makes a difference if your doing management/other similar roles. But if its IT/Engineering it wont be as big a gap. In your line of work as a Server/Networking Analyst certifications could sometimes mean more to the hiring manager...

It certainly can make a difference but it's not the only factor. But it's a big advantage in a competitive market.
And yeah, I also know a complete moron who graduated from Harvard. She was dumb as fuck. She could read a book and regurgitate it all, but it meant nothing to her. She got straight A's and did all sorts of community service, got into Harvard, graduated, and then did nothing with it in the real world, because in the real world people saw through her facade. Her career is now "baby factory". |

Come to think of it I know a lot of women who do nothing but waste space in college. They get degrees and take up valuable resources and the only reason they even go is to get a man.

To be honest, a degree matters, but it's not the end all. The truly passionate will never "need" a degree to succeed. They succeed because their passion carries them through and it shows.

I don't get the idea of people wanting a stress free job that pays well. Is work ethics gone? I mean you get paid for how much / hard you worked. You don't go out shoot the breeze with a bunch of people, click the mouse a few times and expect to earn 300K a year. See what happened to all the fund managers on Wall St when the market crumbled?

shouldn't matter but it does, also depends on field.
IMHO, i'll hire any hungry kid from any school as oppose to some snotty brat, that has had everything handed to him, from wharton or harvard any day. |

Depending on the field I guess, what college you go to doesn't really matter, it is your own knowledge... in my experience at least.
I think about anyone who "tried" in highschool and whose parents have 250K a year to blow on college could go to Harvard, I could be wrong though, doesn't seem too special to me. I'd like to know who is making 80+ stright out of school at this point in time... I'm a little skeptic. Unless you know people and have a masters/doctorate.

the ivy league has a significant amount of retards--basically affirmative action for rich people. basically:
-rich parents can dump a lot of $$$ into kaplan, princeton college prep courses for their dumb kids -rich parents can donate to the school (how do u think harvard got a $35B endowment?) -legacy (parents went there, kids have a better chance)
