DIY request, removing plastic base around parking brake?
^ Hey guys, thats what I need to remove to have painted. The last owner must have had the habit of putting his loose change and other stuff right in that area. Now that I have it, I'd like to repaint that so it doesn't look so awful. Just wondering if there are any "how to"s in regards to removing this? Thank you. I apologize if this has been discussed before, I dont know what that part is called. |

I think you'll need to strip the rubbertone paint off the plastic first. I did a similar thing for my steering wheel covers; strip the rubberized paint with sandpaper and then made it smooth with progressively higher grit sandpaper. I used spray paint (formulated for viny-from advanced auto parts) and gave it a glossy look. I don't know if you want gloss there or not, but I'm sure there are plenty of other types of paint ideas around. GL.
