Cooling Fan
Hi,
Has anyone else noticed that when they turn their ingnition off, there is a fan still running at the front of the car and the air vents behind the kidney grill are still open. I have noticed this two days running after my commute to work (which is only 15 miles). I could understand this fan staying on if I lived in a hot climate but the past couple of mornings have been frosty ones. My dealer tells me that the engines in new BMWs run considerably hotter than previously but I smell some BS here! Any thoughts or views appreciated. Thanks Last edited by Gonkface; 11-10-2010 at 03:05 AM.. Reason: Spelling |

this is the secondary cooling system to cool down the turbos, without it turbo bearings would cook. In the old days you would have to spend 5 to 10 minutes after you arrived somewhere to let your car idle so the bearings could cool down before you turned off the engine and thus the oil supply.
