Buttonwillow Raceway Pictures.
Here are a couple pictures of me driving my dad's Z4 3.0 at Buttonwillow Raceway this weekend (8th and 9th). I ran the car in HPDE 4/TT. I broke the track record for TTD doing a 2.11.400 then broke my track record again by doing a 2.11.012 running course #1 Clockwise. Here are some Photos.
Hey look it's a Z4 Lift kit! haha. Last edited by DerekSelmanRacing; 11-11-2008 at 11:47 AM.. |

your pops is quick. I hear you're blazing fast.
I was there that weekend. I'm unclear on what time your ran. You dad ran a 2:17.2? you were 8 seconds faster in the same car? |

I recall hearing people talk about about what's next for you. What is next? Also, that car is stock except for wheels and tires right? How much faster do you think you could be if it were a Z4M?

Well I'd like to run MX-5 Cup next year, but will have to wait and see due to funding or lack there of. However; I have been racing for 10 years. 4 years in Go Karting, 3 years in Formula Renault, 1 year doing the full schedule of Koni challenge in a Porsche 996, and then a year off and on in a Porsche 996 and then BMW M3.
As far as what has been done to the car it has a Bembo Rotors and Hawk Pads, Hoosiers, Strut Brace, and Camber Plates. What could I do in a Z4 M? I'll go out on a limb and say give or take 3 seconds faster... P.S. The Brembo rotors (not big brake kit) aren't really cutting it; still experimenting. Haha you would've smoked me! 2.11 is hauling ass. I was trying to make it out there but couldn't get away from work last weekend, wish I could've and gotten some pointers. I haven't done that config in several years.
What tires were you running?

Haha yeah, I was hoping to break into the 2.10's though. Yeah to bad you couldn't have made it out there. I could have driven your car, showed you what it was capable of, and given you some advice! :-p. Maybe next time though.
I am available for driver coaching though...coached a kid last year and led him to a Formula Renault 1600 Championship. Hoosier R6 |

Where did you find those last few tenths? Was it an "ah ha" moment or was it just getting a clean lap and hitting your marks? Did you ride passenger with your pops and vice versa?
Good luck man. |

I just made sure I got a decent gap between myself and the guy in front of me and went for it. Once I got done with the lap I knew it was a good one!
Were you driving a Black 335i with Black wheels? What times did you get down to? |

Falken Azenis rt615 255 square set up. Stock otherwise. Car behaves like a big, powerful, heavy, softly sprung car from what I'm told. More power than grip. That was my 10th track day. 6th at button. since you asked :-) higher quality than the youtube: http://blip.tv/file/1452482 |

Yeah, definitely been doing this whole racing/driving thing for a while. hah. I do occasionally go there but, not a big fan of willow springs though and I've only run on the big track. I'll talk to my dad though and see which track we might be going to next though. I'm not really looking to win any championships in NASA either. Plus the fact I only do an event every once and a while. It's just a good sanctioning body to allow me to get some seat time!

I'm not to sure how the 335i would handle out there, but I had the privelage to drive the new M3 out on track on Friday. It weighs around 600lbs more but I was really amazed with how compliant it was. The thing was a dream to drive!! |

I've had trouble finding a track or track day sponsor that will allow convertibles on the track. What's the story with your Buttonwillow experience?

NASA (nasaproracing.com) allows convertibles equipped with factory rollover protection in their HPDE and time trial events. This car has been tracked at many Western tracks.
