electric pierburg water pump impeller question

I just bought a electric water pump from fcp euro ( pierburg ), my question is, is it normal for the plastic impeller fins to be detatched/detatched looking every other blade? Did i get a defective unit? Every other blade looks to be not molded or cracked away from the outer form?

UPDATE: weather was nice today so i changed it out this afternoon.
The oem one i took off has the same design, so i guess its the norm.
118k on the original water pump, no signs of failure, just changed it cause i needed to flush the coolant anyway and change thermostat while i was in there, cause my overflow tank split on me while i was doing a smog check earlier this year and i had to add drinking water i had in the trunk to get her home.
