Dyeing poly bushings

Hi All,

I'm going to purchase rear subframe bushing inserts for my car, and have decided on the Whiteline brand ones since they are a local manufacturer and almost half the price of other brands on ebay.

My main issue though with whiteline products is their bright yellow colour - I don't want it to be obvious I have modded the car.

Has anyone dyed polyurethane bushes before - with something like RIT dye

Was it successful? and how long did the pigment last for?
From what I read on the net, the dye only impregnates less than one milimeter into the poly, so if you cut or chip it the original colour will show through - but I can live with that.

Keen to hear anyone that has attempted using dye's

All new Whiteline products are black now. They made a color change almost 2 years ago based on customer responses to a survey.

Whiteline are still selling yellow bushings in Australia - not sure why, but possibly because they still have some old stock on the shelves.

I have asked an Australian vendor recently, and their response was it is pot luck if it arrives in a yellow or black colour.

I am thinking it is not possible to dye the polyurethane, the only way to dye something is to have it absorb the color into the material and I really doubt bushing will absorb liquid which is something you do not want them doing since that will change the property of the material.
