Differential bushings - needs replacements
Sitting at 34K on my Z4M Roadster I started experiencing a clunk form behind when letting off the gas. I took it to a local shop where they are confirming that the front and rear bushings are completely toast. Are there only 2x I need to be changing or should I be looking out for any other components while I have the car up on the rack.
By the way, labor was quoted at $800.00 but Im looking around for a second quote. Is this the correct item that I am looking at https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-3...l-bushing-set/

There is a total of 5 rubber bushings on the diff carrier. In order to remove the diff carrier to change those bushings the exhaust system from the headers back has to be removed, then heat shield then reinforcement plate, then both tension rods, more heat shielding, then the driveshaft, then the side axles, then the diff carrier comes out.
With all that labour you would be wise to change every bushing that's in there.

And all that labor is why I just paid to have it done. I didn't want to try to do that on Jack stands.
1200 for all that. They replaced everything plus diff cover.

Im thinking the same thing, I just saw a YouTube Vid showing all that needs to come down in order to get to the diff bushings. I might as well change the CenterLine drive shaft bearing as well as the others ones noted above. I also plan to service the Dif with fresh oil.

I do intend on refreshing the rest and putting in new shocks/struts this winter myself, but those all appear to be more doable on jack stands.

Albeit mine is a non M. But same operations.
My .02c is it's not that bad on jack stands with a couple of trolley jacks to lower the cradle sans rear diff and axles. There is a lot of stuff to remove before you get to point of removing the cradle however.

Excellent visual, much appreciated. We placed the car on a lift and saw where one of the cradle bushings was 75% gone with a bit of play, could be one of the main culprits for the clunk noise.

Here is the info on the OEM rear bushings. Strange they recycled an old E36 bushing.
