Z4 E85 roof help after installing new motor
Hi all
I've had the common problem with the roof motor being sat in a puddle of water on a 04 reg Z4. I've purchased a motor from Graham at roofmotors.co.uk. I've replaced the motor and the propeller (plastic spinning part) in the pump. I've then relocated the pump/motor into the boot to prevent further issues as per various YouTube videos. However the motor won't open the roof. It is clearly spinning and you have to help it open manually. Once fully open the motor perfectly closes the roof with no issue at all. The motor when closing the roof sounds like it's under pressure pumping the hydraulic fluid. However when trying to open it sounds like the motor is spinning freely under no pressure. Has anyone got any ideas or could recommend someone who could take a look. I'm in sheffield UK Thank you |

Hey Jaygoodwin
Here is the link used by most UK Z4 owners: https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=3 This doesn't mean you must be from the UK but, a lot of posters to it are. There are 4 or 5 posters there who, for a very reasonable fee, will do roof repairs/relocate the motor to the trunk. Since you did pump repairs with parts, you might want one of these folks to look over it, just to make sure you didn't overlook something. I'm guessing your current issue is pump location or a issue with your rebuilding the pump. |
