I like the long copy as well as the sharp headlines and images in these - without the internet back then, ads in mags commanded more attention, so the copywriters had more space/time to get a point across / tell a story.
BMW was targeting car enthusiasts then.
Nowadays the press ads (and other ads) are there to target the mass market... so unlikely to talk about oil filters and exhausts.
