You could always flip it - I considered doing that when we came up on the local liquor store's list and got a chance to buy a bottle of last year's Old Rip. $80 bottle that sells for $400 on the secondary market.
I opened it, though.

I agree with you. If I get a Pappy 23 I'll probably flip it. Too many other good bottles out there to justify drinking a $2000 bottle, even if I do get to purchase it at MSRP. Anything else on that list however, I'm opening it!
