SDCoupe 265/275 is in the right range, but it depends on the mfg
Too much emphasis is placed on "265" sizing method, what really matters is the tread width.
E.g
- a DirezzaZII
265 has a tread width of 10 inches
- a Bridgestone RE71r
275 has a tread width of (drum roll please) ..........10 inches
TireRack is a good resource for looking up tire specs.
That said, for best tire performance (track / AutoX) the tread width should not exceed the wheel width.
It should also be, not less than wheel width (
ww) less 0.5"
If tread width exceeds wheel width the side wall is in a structurally weaker position which allows more side to side tread movement/squirm.
This produces more heat and less sensitive steering inputs.
You don't want 'stretch' fitment either for obvious reasons.
So, IMO the tread width of a tire on a 9.5" wheel should be ....
< ww and >(ww - 0.5)
