no thanks.

for me the 911 died with the 997.
I agree with this entirely. The 997 is the sweet spot of the 911 cars for me. However, the carrera models aren't all that exciting to drive, at least on the street. I drove a regular Carrera and an S and just didn't think they were worth the price. I don't want my first Porsche purchase to be on a car I'm not 100% in love with. I thought the M3 I ended up with was just a better buy---and certainly in a more rare/interesting spec than most Carrera models on the market.

So do I think the 992 will be any better? Nah. The Carrera is a 2-door tourer, IMO. It's comfortable, has good power, drives well, but has slowly lost the intangible engagement factor. Carreras strike me as cars for people who want the form factor of a 911 with the driving experience of a 6/8-series coupe.
Can't say you are wrong with your description of the typical Carrera driver but I think that is mainly due to the current price of the car. I mean a base 991.2 starts at like $90k and easily hits $100k+ once you add basic options. The type of person that has that kind of money to drop on a car is likely a professional who is a bit older and expects a certain level of refinement and comfort.
