Perhaps not to piss off customers who had just bought one... or the fact that it's coming so soon after the introduction. The whole "LCI" designation is a little silly anyway; many automakers make subtle--and sometimes not so subtle--updates to exteriors and/or interiors between major model overhauls. |
Agree on LCI being silly, 1) 99% of customers have no clue and if they saw the term LCI in a press release it wouldn't matter to them. 2) what an LCI used to be is far more blurred than ever. Tech is evolving and consumers demand change be faster. BMW has done far more "running changes" off LCI cycle in recent years. The most obvious that come to mind is the 5 and x3 getting the id7 dashboard lite before lci to ensure they stayed aligned with the rest of the lineup. I think we will continue to see more changes in flight rather than waiting for an lci cycle going forward. With the lone exception being consistent interior/exterior design refresh cycles
