I think you nailed the reasons:
The coupe is about 40% rarer (1800 or so coupes to 3k roadsters).
Since the car was designed as a roadster first, when you add the roof the torsional rigidity increases significantly. The roadster has something like 14,500 Nm/deg, which is still pretty good, for example a 996 porsche convertible only has 11,600 Nm/deg. The coupe has 32,000 Nm/degree.
Because of the stiffness and the roof, it is definitely a better track weapon.
I sometimes wonder if I should've bought a coupe, it's very tempting. But then I put the top down and drive and remember why I fell in love with the car i the first place.
Wish I had an unlimited garage and/or budget. I'd get a matching sepang bronze coupe to go with the roadster.
