This event can of course be explained in 2 ways:
1. Michelin makes unsafer tyres than bridgestone. (back then)
2. Michelin doesnt want to take any chance and after an (unexplained) incident they tell the teams not to take the risk.

But the FIA also plays a big role in how the tyres should be designed and what it's goals are.
Do they want to see more show or do they want to see more safety. These don't always go hand in hand.
That was the Indianapolis F1 race.
