Aluminum S54 M Badge

I was wiping down my S54 the other day and the cloth dragged across my already rippled looking M badge on the valve cover. It must have caught on a stray piece of chrome plating cause it ripped a big strip right off the emblem exposing the putrid brown plastic underneath. It looked bad before, but now it was hideous.

Looking at new ones they are 50-60 bucks. I couldn't help but think that these will get hot and flake apart just like my original stock part.

So that got me to thinking about an aluminum badge and how it would not only match the vanos, but it would never flake apart. I looked online but couldn't find anything.

So I got some aluminum stock and started to fashioned my own. It's not perfect yet, but I'm close. Oddly enough a roll of tape is the exact radius of the badge. Im not sure if I will paint the colored stripes or just leave it all silver.

Too late to get engine pics tonight.

Do you guys have any leads on a heat resistant two sided tape I could use for this??!
