Sorry to hear about your situation. Being in TX, is this your daily driver or do you have another car for basic transportation? I know we are all in different situations, but if that's your daily driver I would consider spending that $6k on a reliable backup vehicle like a Honda CR-V so you can get back on your feet quickly. The MC can always be repaired later when you find another job and your finances are back in order. The 2nd car will also come in handy when you need the extra utility too.
