My car came with this mod already done from the PO. However, I have no idea what was done exactly. I ended up taking them off and finding a stock set to put on the car as the "modified" set was a bit annoying in stop and go traffic.
I'm thinking at some point to open them up where they were welded and have a look inside at least one of them to see what was done exactly. I have this feeling they made them straight through and the packing was never reinstalled. but just guessing until I actually crack them open. But long story short, I was on the fence as there was times it was a bit annoying for my tastes.
