news is the E46 plug-and-play harness has H-bridge drivers for both VANOS and coil drivers hidden in it, so the Infinity isn't actually out-of-the-box compatible with the S54 and now I need to talk to AEM to see if they'll sell me the driver schematic or something rather than a plug-and-play harness that I'll need to completely butcher to make work.

Dammit.
