The assembly changed, instead of locking the top down when folded, hydraulics hold it in place on the new assembly (I don't recall the date change, Apr 2006 sounds right).

I don't believe the canvas top itself changed, I believe its a mechanism that changed. I don't know if you will be able to swap from to the other, some programming might be required to acknowledge or disable additional sensors depending upon which one you go with.

I like the older design much better - it held the soft top in place while driving and kept wear to a minimum.
