After researching this further and looking at the data from Bimmerworld, I would say every STB on the market is snake oil. They were only able to achieve .8mm of deflection in a race car. There's that much flex in every STB I've seen on the market. Unless the STB mounts where you can pretension the bar, it's worthless. The three 13mm nuts holding the mount under compression (rather than shear) are not going to be strong enough to tame a 3,000 lb car pulling 1.25 g's, and that's if the bar itself were straight. A bent bar will flex until it's straight and under proper tension.

I think that with the additional stiffness of the E86, I'm sure the deflection will even be less than the Spec E46 car used in the test.
