Dave, just curious - where in AZ are you? So few Z4MCs here. I'm down near Bisbee for the last year, after spending 14 years in Chandler.
I'm on Z4MC #2. Right after I bought it in November, I replaced the battery - it was still the original, a decade old, and was still working. I wasn't going to press my luck so I replaced it right away.
I've had great luck with my BMWs in Phoenix with batteries - being trunk-mounted definitely helps in the searing Sonoran desert heat. In my VWs, not nearly as much longevity.
