Like you said, let's not over-do the rod bearing situation. I see plenty of 100k+ S54 cars that are just fine and do not have rod bearing issues. People on this forum tend to push their cars harder - if you drive normally and don't beat the crap out of the car, the rod bearings will be fine. I agree on doing an oil analysis at some point.
