When I had a turbo car one way I checked for boost leaks was using a rig I made up for the turbo inlet. I bought a PVC schedule 40 pipe cap where the outer diameter was the same as the inner diameter of my hose coupler. I then drilled and tapped the PVC cap for a air line fitting like air tools have.

To test, I dialed my compressor regulator down to 10-15psi hooked the airline up and because the engine was off and everything was quiet you could hear/feel any air leaks.

Maybe some others that have experience with troubleshooting can confirm if any harm could come from it since this is on a S/C and a much more expensive engine, but I didn't have any issues with my setup. They may also be other ways that I am not aware of. Hope this helps.
