I have done 3 Autox events since that discovery which had several 3-2 shifts and no problems now that I know. I just pull it down real gently into second during hard braking and or turning and no problem now. I can't beleive that is all I was doing. Never had that problem in my 350Z but reverse was to the right of 6th and down so there was no way it could happen on the 350.
FYI for anyone still having problems.

IDK about the grind because I haven't had the problem.
RE; the 3-2 denial, it definitely helps with that.
