I owned a Sapphire Black X5 for 16 years and counting and don't really have an issue with it and this is just with your basic waxing every year. No paint correction after 16 years of ownership! Sapphire really hides a lot of the minor scratches and the annual wax took care of those. Would I own another black car? Probably not, but it's because I like my cars in colors other than black, white, or any other shades of gray - i.e. none color blind.
Another issue for me, on top of what I just said is that I live in South Carolina, where temps can get up to 100F by 8AM in the summers. I think that would also be pretty miserable in a daily driver.

The first summer I had my E92 M3, which is a 2008 with the old school iDrive knob made out of metal, I managed to pretty much burn my hands trying to select a song after it's been parked outside all day at work
