Question, what is the silver looking plate where the rear bulkhead used to be?

I'm really wanting to remove the rear bulkhead on my car for weight and also because I would love that open to the cockpit look. As both a street and HPDE car, i would lose the upper seat belt mounting points, correct?
When we installed the half cage the guys cut out the bulk head as it has about 40 spot welds holding it in so they made a tin cover to allow for the wiring. The weight trade off for the cage vs bulkhead is not that much different. If you are going to use for both the street and track, I would weld in a few plates to the back and then add eye bolts into the back wall and keeps it clean.

I did have mounts for the standard seat belts, but the reality is a half cage is only practical if you are doing HPDE's or time trials.

As much as I love my car it is obnoxious on the street, and after selling my Spec e46 I decided to go all on the coupe.
Thanks exactly what I thought. I would do tabs to keep stock belts and even do upholstery in the back to keep it clean.

HPDE is all that I'm thinking at this point.

Thanks for the notes.
