This doesn't strike me as a car that will lack for driving dynamics. I mean, people race Minis and do pretty well. The 228iGC will be softer, sure, but this M-performance version should be set up pretty well.
It's mostly the fwd and transverse engine that raise doubts. You're right though, in that it's just conjecture at this point since it's still in development.
