in the 90s, the tier is the following
tier 1 - supra, NSX, GTR, RX7
tier 1.5 - fairlady Z (300 zx), 3000GT (probably 3000GT is tier 1?), S2000 (late player in early 2000s when 300zx was out)
tier 2 - celica, prelude, integra type R, silvia (240 sx), MR2, mitsubishi eclipse
tier 3 - civic, corolla, etc (not really know this tier)

The NSX was way more expensive than the rest (about 50%) so definately a tier above.
The GTR was of course always a RHD so not really a contemporary contender unless you live in Japan, the UK or Australia.
So:
Tier 1: NSX
Tier 2: Supra turbo/RX7 TT/300zx TT/GT3000/Skyline r34 (if applicable)
The z3m roadster was priced slightly under the tier 2 cars, but it came out about the time a lot of those cars got retired.
