No dispute there. I thought the same as you when I bought my tires (same height, they should fit!) just to find out they would not work. I would add to my previous statement, more girth at the top caused my issue.
You may have missed it, but the listing you posted states "front negative camber required". Unfortunately, APEX does not say how much negative camber.
Earlier in the thread, I stated I needed more front camber to make it work. At the time, I was at ~ -2.3 degrees with camber pins pulled and 2 camber washers installed and yet, it did not fit. Given my experience, I would argue more than that is needed.
If you are dead set on 255/40, contact APEX to see how much negative camber they recommend is needed. Though I suspect you will need camber plates ($400+ for a set) to make that happen.
Given you are staying on stock suspension, I would recommend going 255/35/18 for the front like I ultimately did. A quick peak at TireRack at the PS4S shows that size is about $20 cheaper per tire anyways

Thanks for the heads up. I might just stick with a 245/40. I don't want to sacrifice oo much of a sidewall and will probably get a 275/35 in the rear.
