Looked at the pictures in “close”… and don’t see a switch to select pre or post facelift…

Also doesn’t state such in the tech info supplied.

Z4 switch date to new wiring connector (2 pins switched) was in ‘07 and likely applied to all BMW models. I say this as my son and I shared the $500 cost to get two dongles and cable (switchable) that the ISTAD and ISTAP program was supplied with. You can now download for free these days. Not so in the early days when it became available.

For those getting portable scanners… ease of use does not mean ease of diagnosing… especially when the ISTAD has test procedures imbedded in the software to chase down a fault code etc down to the point of measuring the actual resistance of a connector. Compare that to just being told you have a code…. No comparison ….
