Spring rates
I would say you had a lot more going on there than just a spring rate issue. It looks like you sort of figured that out browsing through your thread. I don't believe I would've turned a second lap if I had a car that badly controlled. I've had corded race tires that had more grip than those squealing street tires.
I did get the car out a couple of weeks ago, but I'll report on that separately (and the car was not twitchy), but then again this isn't my first time to the rodeo...
