Lots of love for Vanguard on here.

I use Fidelity, they have zero cost index funds, but their regular index funds fees have been reduced to a point where it's negligible.

Figure out your risk propensity for your age and make a "3 Fund Portfolio" or a 2 fund portfolio of index funds (Domestic stocks/International Stocks/Bonds) or (Domestic stocks/Bonds). Play with the % of each for your risk propensity.
