I bought a Z4 coupe in January of this year and the car was in Transport mode. I took it to a BMW service department and they returned it to normal mode via computer. Cost...$159.00. I'm guessing the tech spent no more than 5 minutes making the correction.
Since then I have purchased a Schwaben Professional Scanner that was recently on sale, for just a few dollars more, than the cost of that visit to the service department. The scanner will do the same thing the dealership did, and a whole lot more.
If there are other options, folks on this site will certainly post them.
