It's fabulous. It's actually my 2nd Golf R - I bought a '16 and put 50k miles on it, and traded it for this one last November. The first car had a little episode at the 30k service where the dealership failed to refill the rear diff, causing it to eat itself shortly afterwards, causing $5k worth of repairs, which to their credit, they owned up to and covered without hassle. After the warranty expired I was concerned about what other possible damage might have been done back there that wasn't addressed, but loved the car so decided to just hit reset. With the current 6/72 b2b warranty ending after the '19s, and great deals out there on the last of them, I went for it. Such a great all-purpose car. Haul 4 people in comfort, load it up with cargo, drive it to the grocery store like granny, or blast through the canyons - it does it all.
