I'll echo what's in bold, it's an important step that a lot of people overlook. The last time I went mattress shopping in person I laid on the mattress I bought (Stearns & Foster pillowtop) for almost an hour. I took a gamble on a Zinus foam mattress recently from Amazon, I sleep like a baby on it. Mattress shopping is very subjective as I'm sure you know. Good luck with whatever you end up with.
