I have a running shoe rotation but for casual wear I don't like even the ON shoes for walking around. The reason is that when casually walking and then pivoting around to see things I find running shoe outer soles and even driving shoe nibs can catch or stick to the tarmac and strain the knee.
In the winter I like quality ankle boots with a nice leather or rubber sole and protectors nailed onto the heel and toe. In the summer I like a slip on shoe with a smooth sole - maybe sipes for traction but not a running shoe or driving shoe with nibs of it's outer sole.
It does get harder to find shoes. Where race day running shoes are $250 I expect to pay + more for decent casual shoes.
