had the same problem on the smart car and had them paint the plastic to proper gloss level on the back and looks factory fresh and best of all UV resistant and will last.
not to bad either, was cheaper than replacing the parts
they can ajust the gloss level also so you can do very shiney or matt or whatever you desire.
