That doesn't sound quite normal. It should be able to be adjusted within parameters through a normal alignment.

If you aren't lowered or heading to the track looking for more range in your alignment I do not think it's worth it.

Cheaper ones, are made cheaper. You can see it in the construction and welds.

These are the best bang for buck IMHO

ECS Tuning. Search their website for the correct one to fit your Z4.
