I grew up in the 70s and was a teen in the 80's,my family wasn't into cars at all.. my interest in motorcycles and riding dirt bikes as a young kid satisfied my need for speed as a teenager when I got my 1st street bike. Never thought cars were "fast" til a high school buddy got a brand new 1985 Mustang GT and that changed my outlook on cars and I suddenly became obsessed with 70's muscle cars w big V8 engines since they were somewhat obtainable for me while I was working at a gas station pumping gas after school and on the weekends. Then my interest really took off when I attended my 1st street race in Hunts Point NY at 16yrs old.
After that I was hooked. Had a few 70s Mustangs,a few Fox body's etc and then I saw a legit AMG Hammer driving downtown in Englewood Cliffs NJ during the summer of '86 IIRC. My buddy said,"Holy crap,do you know what that is??? Thats a Hammer!!"

Ever since that sighting I lusted for a fast German sedan and it wasn't until I turned 30 and our daughter was born. My wife and I got our 1st BMW back in '98(323i manual trans)as she promised herself she would reward herself with a BMW when she got her Masters. I was still driving an SUV which suited me perfectly up until it didn't. Traded that in on a brand new C55 AMG in '05 then onto an E55 AMG and so forth(see my sig).

Since my wifes very first 3 series back in '98,we have always had at least one German sedan in the garage. I just love em.
