I don't eat or drink while I drive, but I do need to transport food and drinks from time to time, so I need cupholders. I recall the ones in my 2003 Z4 being flimsier than the post-facelift ones - I've had no problems with my M Coupe. I replaced one on my old roadster myself - though it was still under warranty, the part was cheap and I saw the potential for screw-ups by the dealer, as seen above.
