Ironically, 255/40/18 is what I originally bought. However, I had the wheels and tires before the suspension, and didn't have enough camber to maybe make the tire fit. On my stock suspension setup at the time, a 255/40 would have destroyed fender liners and rubbed like crazy.
Since a 255/40/18 is roughly an inch taller than a 255/35/18, I went one aspect ratio size down and have had no issues since!
